From the Editors

We are pleased to offer the 11th issue of our journal to your attention. In this issue, an important place is given to methodology of lifelong education, as well as to the representation of diverse practices of university training in specific study areas in Russia and Ukraine. Readers interested in education philosophy can find the anthropological reflection on the dialectics of education and Tradition. The implementation of the principle of additionality on a post-nonclassical stage of scientific development is presented through highlighting ecological component within a regional component of school education.

This issue again raises the question of the national education standards. This time, a study compares successive relations between the Federal State Higher Education Standard ("Teacher Education") and Teacher Professional Standard in relation to primary school teachers’ training. Several articles provide a new perspective on the problem of "applicant – university.” A question of choosing a higher education institution is viewed in the context of the “university brand” concept. Another article presents an author's version of classifying educational strategies of modern applicants based on the results of a student survey at a regional university.

There are several papers considering the practice of preparing for certain majors in the modern multi-level education system. Through the use of multimedia tools, the philosophical and general scientific methodological guidelines for music teachers’ professional development are analyzed. Certain articles summarize and assess the use of e-learning platforms and distance learning technologies, give recommendations for the structure and content of teaching materials for the management of medical students’ self-studying. The results of the research on dynamics of voluntary motives among the individuals of helping professions are presented in another article, as well as possibilities to regulate these motives.

The article revealing an innovative approach to school education of future scientists based on public-private partnership, which has been giving consistently high results for many years, is addressed to modern education managers. Another article presents a unique authors’ experience of fifteen years of organizing international seminars "St. Petersburg - Ukraine" devoted to mutual influence and interpenetration of Slavic cultures. The analysis of this international scientific cooperation is given in the context of imagology – a field of humanities related to the study of "the image of the Other" in social and cultural consciousness.

Congratulations to all fellow teachers with the upcoming World Teachers' Day, which is celebrated on October 5 this year. We wish you new creative achievements in the field of lifelong learning and look forward to new articles.
