QUARTERLY SCIENTIFIC ON-LINE JOURNAL “LIFELONG EDUCATION: THE XXI CENTURY” was established in April 2013. For the 5 years of its existence (2013-2017) more than 200 scientific articles written by the authors from different regions of the Russian Federation and scientists from 19 foreign countries had been published. According to the data of the Russian Index of Scientific Citation (RISC) the journal rating was 16 in SCIENCE INDEX on the topic “Public Education. Pedagogy” in 2016, and in 2017 – it made the 5th place.

E-journal was included into the list of peer-reviewed journals in which the main research results of doctoral (‘candidate of science’) and post-doctoral (‘doctor of science’) theses are to be published. This decision was effected by the Presidium of Higher Attestation Commission (http://vak.ed.gov.ru/87) and applies from 09 August 2018 onwards to the following main fields of study:

13.00.01 General Education, History of Pedagogy and Education;

13.00.02 Theory and Methodology of Teaching and Education (by fields);

13.00.08 Theory and Methodology of Professional Education.

The ISSN and RSCI (473-08/2013) are assigned to the journal.

Electronic articles are equal to printed academic papers, the full texts and the bibliographical descriptions are included in E-library database, ERIH PLUS, Cyberleninka. All submitted manuscripts are sent to experts in the field for blind internal and external peer-review. Manuscripts will be subjected to plagiarism detection software (http://www.antiplagiat.ru/index.aspx). The texts are published in the Russian, English, and German languages. Authors are not required to pay any fees, publication is free of charge, and all the materials are open access.

In addition to academic papers, the journal offers readers the information on educational events, the links to educational resources related to the lifelong learning issues, and the invitations to initiate on-line surveys and forum discussions and participate in them.

Currently the journal is supported financially by the Program of Development of Petrozavodsk State Basic University for 2017-2021.
