THE EDITORIAL

We offer readers the 2 (42) issue of the journal «Lifelong Education: The 21st Century».

The attention of our authors is still focused on research related to the use of information and communication technologies in education. However, according to all participants in the pedagogical process (students, their parents, teachers), simply transferring classes to Zoom or another similar platform is only a necessary measure, creating some convenience, but, most often, reducing the quality of educational outcomes. Therefore, the search for new approaches and technologies to improve the efficiency of the educational process should be welcomed.

In connection with the above mentioned, readers may be interested in an article about the immersiveness and agency of educational technologies, both digital and non-digital. Immersiveness (from the English language «immerse») is the content feature the  primarily goal of which to immerse the user in the content through the use of various, mostly audio-visual technologies. Digital immersive technologies include virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), videos and photos. Immersion is achieved by influencing the human sensory receptors.

The attention of the English language teachers (and not only) can be attracted by the article on the implementation of a project to create and use a network professional community based on the social network VKontakte. The project in a public social network allows you to activate creative and communicative student activities.

Scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence attracts the attention of not only the scientific community but also the consumers of relevant products. The discussions held point to both positive and negative consequences of the widespread and uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence. It is important to correctly navigate the sources of competencies for educational programs in the field of artificial intelligence, which is the subject of one of the articles in this issue.

The term «open educational resources» is gaining its place in the pedagogical lexicon, that is, textbooks, educational and methodological manuals, and other publications brought together and accessible to teachers and students. This tool for information support of the pedagogical process on the basis of agricultural education is considered.

The authors in their studies address the problem of the quality of scientific publications. The requirements for increasing publication activity are imposed on both teachers and students in higher education. Why do not only beginners, but also authors with relevant experience, receive refusals to publish their articles from the editors of scientific journals? The fact is that, in addition to the general requirements for a scientific publication (scientific novelty, evidence, theoretical and practical significance), each scientific journal is focused on certain scientific fields and priorities in the problems of articles, has its own headings, features in the design of articles, including the format of abstracts, rules for making references, a list of sources and illustrative materials, etc. The author of the article invites you to discuss issues on what a publication competence is, and is it possible to form such a competence in undergraduates and graduate students, and what are the possible ways to solve the problem?

A number of articles are related to the personnel and methodological resources of lifelong education, namely: the methodological and technological foundations of landscape education of future teachers based on cultural heritage, the prospects for the development of additional professional education in Russia, the analysis of the current state of digital competencies of teachers, the study of the assessment and self-assessment of the professional competencies of future teachers, the formation of ethno-pedagogical competence of future technology teachers.

We hope that the readers of our magazine will find the information in the June issue interesting and helpful. We remind you that in the September issue, the priority will be given to the articles devoted to the problems of academic writing.

The summer vacation season is coming.

Have a good holiday everyone!
