The special social situation of the last months which made educational institutions switch to distance learning en masse shaped the content of this issue. To this turn of events the system of education has not been ready enough, especially technically and technologically. At the same time the situation focused careful attention on a number of problems. One set of problems is  the readiness of learners of all age groups and educators of all levels to actual implementation of digital education, distance and e-learning, online educational management; another one is scientific comprehension of all aspects - psychological, pedagogical, medicinal, economic, and legal ones.

In connection with the current situation half of the articles deals with the problems of digital education, one way or another. They discuss strategies of lifelong learning in the context of digitalization in education; potential of creative development for students under conditions of digital education;  legal basis of distance learning especially for people with disabilities; innovation methods of e-and distance learning for specific disciplines; strategic trends of implementation online education in lifelong learning (based on the documents of European Commission); interaction of informal adult education and conventional educational institutions. One of the articles draws attention to the problem of additional education for children and youth, which used to be provided with developed institution system of additional education but it went through significant shrinkage in post-Soviet period. The additional education in arts is presented not only inside school activities, but also outside them in musical and art schools, and in centers of esthetical education. What influence do these institutions make on the life and world-perception of the graduates? The authors make an attempt to answer this question having studied the opinions of adult respondents, former graduates of arts school.

The article written by the author from Czech Republic is focused on the problems of  social-pathological phenomena prophylaxis in school environment and the ways of  preventing drug-addiction and promotion of healthy style of life.

The situation with distance learning threw light on the importance of the higher quality of future teachers training through additional professional pedagogical education.  The issues of lifelong pedagogical education are regularly addressed to in the journal. This issue is no exception, offering material on critical thinking and subjectivity development for students of pedagogical majors. In the section dedicated to educational management the discussion on various scenarios of innovative development in educational institutions keeps going on.  In the section on labor market and lifelong learning interdependence, one of the articles may be of interest for the readers as it presents non-traditional approach to vocational oriented education in the context of the so called provocative method.

The section Scientific Event not only analyzes the results of discussion on rural educational institutions held in Yaroslavl within the frames of Scientific-practical conference, but also discusses the potential of distance mode for conducting scientific events.

We do invite you to actively join the discussion of lifelong learning raised in the journal. Wish you a sunny summer!
