In the current issue of the journal the various topics are covered. The modern tendencies and problems of the function and development of education system are presented.

Education in the interest of sustainable development is one of the modern positioned and disputable tendencies of education development. Ecological education is the leading conceptual and program constituent of education for sustainable development. Last year was declared in Russia as the year of ecology, and this fact attracted attention of pedagogical  community to the problems of ecological education. Nevertheless, the problem of continuous ecological learning in the context of education in the interest of sustainable development leaves much to be studied and developed. The article devoted to the discussion of the issue of singularity and specificity of the educational processes may be of interest for those who study the role of enlightenment in the system of lifelong learning and formation of other components of personal culture. Two other articles draw the attention of a reader to the problems of regional and regional natural history approaches in education. These two approaches undeservingly "took the back seat" as a result of elimination from the state educational standards for higher and vocational education national-regional components.

The articles analyze the historical backgrounds and study the current situation of academic research and practical introduction for the above-mentioned approaches and offer suggestions for their actualization under modern conditions.

In 2004, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Expert Group of European Commission on permanent occupational guidance, the Council of European Union and World Bank approved for the following interpretation of the occupational guidance goal "Occupational guidance is aimed at helping people of any age and at any moment in their life to choose the area of learning, professional training, the sphere of professional activity and the area of professional occupation and career managing."

The professional orientation work with school students take a special place in the system of lifelong learning because it should consider the special needs of the modern young generation. The effective instruments for professional orientation, in particular: professional orientation lesson on the basis of the Internet portal "My career" is presented in one of the articles of the journal.

The set of the articles is dedicated to the issues of effective management for the institutions of higher professional education and educational processes in tertiary education. These articles present the validated experience for designing practical oriented educational syllabus, the technology of advanced learning for forming professional competencies of a physician and the influence of the system of additional education on the increase of learning level for higher institution competitiveness.   The management mechanisms might be extrapolated for solving the problems in other learning areas.

Other articles reflect innovation approaches to solving the actual problems of high and higher education, namely: school mediation as means of teaching to solve the conflict situations, the problem of dependence of school and university students on mobile devices and the use of them for educational purposes, the stereotype and originality in communication and teaching.       Dear authors and readers! Please pay attention to the fact that since this issue the journal will be published in two language versions - Russian and English. The articles written in the German language will still be accepted and published in the journal.
