Abstract: the article addresses the problem of developing time-management skills in the management of research work (RW) of prospective teachers. The relevance of the study is driven by the contradiction between the declared importance of research work in the structure of future teacher training and the absence of validated methodologies for building temporal competencies required to manage this activity. Drawing on an analysis of theoretical contributions to time management in educational practice, the authors attempt to conceptualize scholarly approaches to forming research time-management competence (RTMC) within the process of managing prospective teachers' research work. Accordingly, the aim of the study is to develop and verify a model for the development of time-management skills in the management of research work of future teachers.
The research involved 278 third- and fourth-year undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in teacher education programs. The study employed methods of observation, time-motion analysis, and examination of activity products, among others. To ensure the reliability of the data obtained, mathematical statistics methods were applied, including the Mann – Whitney U-test, the χ² test, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. In the experimental group, statistically significant outcomes were observed, namely an increase in the proportion of students who submitted their term papers and final qualifying theses on time, an improvement in the quality of these works, a reduction in procrastination, and enhanced self-organization among students. The results of correlation analysis confirmed strengthened relationships between the development of time-management skills and the success of research work (r = 0,402 – 0,524, p < 0,001). The authors substantiate the practical significance of the proposed model for preparing future teachers for research work and outline prospects for its practical integration into the educational environment of pedagogical universities.
