Abstract: The article deals with the functional analysis of professional engineering education system of lifelong learning. The principal dominance of academic university education over applied education is stated. It is shown that engineering education modernization has been focused on innovative development. The world labor market trends are analyzed and the conclusion that the graduates employment is not the profile function of higher education but the upbringing of human resources is made.
Level professional education allows us to build multifunctional educational programs. Also it allows for realizing the new requirements to specialists training in the interests of a personality, society, economy and at the same time it demands the introduction of practice-oriented professional education.
