Abstract: the preparation of teachers of Karelian language at the university is considered as a sign of the regionalization of the university, as the activity of the support university. It should be aimed at satisfying the demands of the regional education system and the republic, on the preservation and development of a small ethnic group. Data on the current state of the Karelian ethnos, the study of the Karelian language in general education organizations of the Republic of Karelia and the relevance of training teachers with two profiles, including the teaching of the Karelian language. Clarify positions and identify the main ideas for the preparation of the future specialist as a person, in which are harmonized the ethno-cultural, multicultural and multicultural components.
