Abstract: nowadays there is a high demand in Russia for qualified workers, employees and mid-level specialists. Their training primarily takes place in the secondary vocational education (SVE) system. Attracting international students could become an effective way to supply the labor market with specialists in various industries. However, there is still no established system for teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL) at the secondary vocational education level. This article aims to present the results of defining specifics of designing RFL teaching content in the context of acquiring a profession in one of the popular fields of study as «Light industry». Based on a content analysis of regulatory and educational literature, the study identifies the thematic framework of learning, proposes methods for developing lexical and grammatical content, suggests criteria for selecting texts for reading and listening. The presented findings could be a foundation for designing RFL teaching content for other fields of secondary vocational education.
